Our Lochaber factory focuses on supplying whole Langoustine
(also known as scampi in the UK or cigalas in Spain) to the
European market. Other products include peeled scampi, as well as
king and queen scallops.
- Sales of whole langoustine are generally around 2000 metric
tonnes per annum sourced from most ports from the West and East
coast of Scotland.
- Sco-Fro whole langoustine is recognised in Spain, France,
Italy, Croatia, Lebanon, Middle East and Japan as one of the
leading brands in foodservice supply and is also sold by major
supermarket chains and wholesalers in Europe.
- The factory supplies Langoustine under the Lochalsh brand or
the customer's own label.
Our production facility in Fort William was opened in 1994 and
has achieved BRC Grade A accreditation. Sco-Fro (Lochaber) is
a past recipient of the Food from Britain Scottish Food
Exporter of the Year 2003 Award. The factory also complies with
full HACCP procedures and has regularly earned the Seafish Industry
Authority Processor Quality Award.
Our modern factory is close to the important fishing port of
Mallaig in one of the most beautiful parts of the Scottish
Highlands. In addition, we have a buying office on the quay side in
Oban co-ordinating supplies from the key fishing grounds in that
area.
The team
We believe in a high standard of staff training which
contributes to Sco-Fro's dedication to offering consistent quality.
Every factory worker has completed a Food Handler's Hygiene Course,
certified by the Royal Society of Health, and many are qualified in
the Scottish Vocational Qualification Scheme specifically geared to
our industry and developed and monitored by our Senior Technical
Manager.
